Kilim rugs are made by intertwining the wefts and warps of different coloured wool to form a lovely and often geometric pattern. They are hardwearing and offer remarkable practicality and choice, ranging from beautiful minimalistic styles and muted pastels, to invigorating bright and lively colours. The sheer versatility of a Flatweave is a welcomed addition to both contemporary and traditional spaces and they suit a variety of different rooms and living areas. Our Traditional Kilim range is woven in Afghanistan and our Modern range is woven in Pakistan.

Kilims are flat-woven rather than knotted: coloured weft threads are woven tightly through the warps, so there's no pile. That makes them thin, light, hard-wearing and usually reversible.
- Much thinner than a pile rug – that's how kilims are made
- Small slits where two colours meet are a traditional feature of the weave
- Most can be turned over and used on either side, doubling their life
- Always use a good rug underlay – kilims are light and can slide
- Vacuum on a low setting without the rotating brush, and flip it over now and then
- Blot spills straight away – never rub
- Have it professionally cleaned every 3–5 years
