Description
These days you will find that most Farahan influenced rugs are woven in Afghanistan. Farahan rugs tend to display a geometric pattern and are woven onto a cotton base with an asymmetrical knot. There are two main styles – those with an endless pattern covering the whole rug and often showing (amongst others) the Herati motif, and then there are those known as Sarouk Farahans – these tend to have larger motifs and are of classical Persian influence. All of our Farahan style rugs are made using only 100% natural material. The wool used is hand spun using traditional methods and dyed with natural plant and vegetable dyes.
